My Style
I don’t really have much style when it comes to drawing, shooting, or painting. The only slight distinct style that
I have is my photography style. My photography style isn’t very distinct-when I first showed my Lecturer, Shirlyn,
my photographs, she didn’t see any. Well, but after that we spot some styles though. I use single-out certain color,
low saturation or if not silhouette. These are the distinct styles I have. sometimes, i fuses styles together. For
example
single-out can go with
low saturation and
silhouette can have low saturation backgrounds.
Single-out
I used this method to emphasis on my focus. It greatly makes my focus stands out from the picture. Below are some
examples. Enjoy!
Low Saturation
I don’t know why I put in low saturation for my photos but I just like it. In my single out technique, I lower the
saturation also. It just got into me I guess. Enjoy some of it!
Silhouette
I use this technique to bring out interesting shapes. But some doesn’t have interesting shapes though. I just like
it. Yes, so enjoy again.
Hope you enjoyed my works.
Thanks a lot!

The designer I have chosen is a game designer,
Yoshitaka Amano. The game had gain worldwide recognition and
is my favorite game!
A little background information, Yoshitaka Amano, the game designer for the famous series of Final Fantasy, is
somewhat the gist of final fantasy as it all started with his designs and ideas for story, characters and concept.
He had worked entirely throughout the first to the sixth series. From the 7th onwards, due to technology
advancement, he only concentrate on the logo and image designs. It was then taken over by Tetsuya Nomura. But
according to Tetsuya Nomura, Yoshitaka Amano has greatly influenced him in his designs and concept. Yoshitaka Amano
has actually contributed alot to the development in the Final Fantasy series. His style of drawing and concept have
influenced the rest of the series as well as alot of RPG games.
Influenced by Gustave Klimt, an Austrian Symbolist painter and one of the most prominent members of the
Vienna
Art Nouveau (Vienna Secession) movement and Japanese paintings, he has his own distinct style. Thus, you can see
his color usage, its rather light in color, mostly influenced by Japanese paintings.
“His main influences seem to be Gustave Klimt, as well as traditional Japanese brush paintings. He privileges
expressiveness to rigididity and realism, often bending the strict rules of proportions, in order to emphasize the
expressiveness, the dramatic or poetic effect of the characters he paints. He often places a small creature (see
background images) next to the characters he draws, probably to hint at their personality” from
http://coco.raceme.org/videogames/amano/.
According to him, his influenced has its transition and change.
“YA: My early animation works were very much
influenced by ‘60s Pop Art, and you may see the influences of
Art Nouveau, Pre-Raphaels, Klimt, Blake, etc. in my 80s~90s illustrative works. The similarity to Ukiyoe must be
most obvious in the “Poem” series I’ve done in 2000 by lithograph” an interview by Ben Hamamoto, Nichi Bei
Times, from

Where does his inspiration come from?
“I
travel. For example, I am in NY for a particular inspiration. I go to Kyoto, Paris and other cities for
the same reason. When I am in different environment, I am constantly inspired by the surroundings. Appearance of the
city, the people, fashion, and food etc… The life style and the city in which I live naturally influence the way I
depict images through my hands. It is like natural spring water. It depends on the kind of soil and rain the land
gets, the kind of water that is created is different. Sometimes it takes months and years to digest the inspiration
and make that come out in my work. Inspiration is something that accumulates in my memories. I am in search of the
inspiration just so I can create images that I like” an interview by Patrick Klepek, Gaming Age from

Personally, I prefer his final fantasy works to his outside works as I can relate to it better and in my own
opinion, I think it has a more distinct style. I appreciate the style in his final fantasy style drawings better
than his other works. Thus, I decided to work with the final fantasy style.
Reasons for choosing him.
The main reason i am interested in this designer is because he is my favourite game designer of my favourite game,
Final Fantasy. Furthermore, his distinct style made me want to research more about him. His style is part Art
Nouveau and part American psychedelic, with some influence from Japanese traditional and cartoon art thrown in. His
people, clothing, creatures and landscapes are often wispy and flowing. They billow like clouds of smoke, rendered
in dizzying color and with an otherworldly texture.
Below are some of his works in the final fantasy series as well as his own paintings.
Enjoy!
These are the logo designs he had designed so far.

Rationale
Hi!
As you can see at the bottom of the page, my concept for this blog is
“Synthesis of Art, A New Point of Perspective.”(the first picture below).
The picture(the second picture below)together with what I have learnt, are the inspiration for my concept. The hands held in the picture portray the birth of new style by the help of others.
Just like the style I have created by fusing my style together with Y.Amano’s style.
How to fuse?
My style is the use of single-out, silhouette and low saturation technique and Y.Amano’s style, influenced by Art Nouveau is often wispy and flowing with lots of curves.
Thus, to fuse our styles, I decided to use vector arts on the photograph.
The choice of vector art is definitely flowing and floral which depicts a lot of his style and Art Nouveau. It is shown below, a zoom in of the vector art on the blog.
My style isn’t lost in this fusion as my picture is purely my style. Singling out the children and lowering the saturation of the background.
Why the put the vector art this way?
I have place the vector art around the picture so as to make a zoom in kind of effect, to the focus, which is the children in the picture.
You can see the zoom effect in the picture below.
The colors were also very dark and almost fading into the background so as not to steal too much attention from the picture.
Why is the blog designed like this?
There are a lot of tabs to click to show the information as I want the viewer to see the picture and the phrase first without the distractions of the information provided.
The tabs shown in the picture below.
Why the red stamp?
The red stamp symbolizes the
birth of a new style. It’s a mark to show the creation of a style. Thus I had it below the phrase.
It is made red so that it can be related to the children in the picture.
As it is red, I made the stamp small so that it doesn’t attract too much attention from the focus, the picture.
The word 'FUSE' was given to strongly symbolize the fusion of styles.
These are the reasons why my blog turned out to be this way.
Thanks for reading till so far!
